A look at New Years Eve in Sydney

Thomas Hough, Sunday December 31, 2017 - 12:43 AEDT

After a boiling hot day across the city yesterday, with temperatures reaching 36 degrees at Sydney's Obs Hill, New Year's Eve is a different story.

Conditions are generally wetter and cooler than yesterday with a maximum of about 26 degrees expected today. Scattered showers this morning should ease throughout the afternoon with cloudy skies expected to break up and giving way to some a few sunny spells.

However, the more important question is what does the weather have in store for the New Year's Eve celebrations tonight?

Models are currently indicating mostly dry conditions across Sydney throughout the evening, however the odd spot of rain or light shower can't be ruled out towards midnight and the the first few hours of 2018.

Aside from the odd light shower the weather should behave itself for the most part, leading into a mostly sunny New Year's Day.

All that remains to say is enjoy the evenings celebrations, and a Happy New Year from all at Weatherzone!
