Australia recorded its first 45 degree day of the season this week as Western Australia's Kimberley endures a sweltering end to October.
The mercury hit 45.0 degrees in West Roebuck on Monday afternoon as offshore winds dragged inland heat towards the coastal weather station. This was the first offical 45 degrees recorded in Australia on this side of winter.
Yesterday's maximum temperature at West Roebuck was also Australia's earliest 45 degrees in three years. In 2014, Bidyadanga reached 45.2 degrees on 9th October.
Australia's highest October temperature was 46.9 degrees at Port Hedland on 22nd of the month in 2002.
