Eggcellent Easter weather for the southeast

Thomas Hough, Friday March 30, 2018 - 12:27 AEDT

The Easter long weekend is underway, and what a weekend it will be for some.

With high pressure dominating the southeast today Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney are all in for a glorious day of sunshine. Whilst it will be cool in both Adelaide and Melbourne, those in Sydney and Canberra can look forward to well above average temperatures today, with the mercury expected to peak in the high 20's.

Heading into Saturday, Adelaide will warm to the mid 20's with those sunny skies staying mostly clear. In contrast to this, both Melbourne and Sydney will see a somewhat cooler and cloudier in the wake of a front to the south. Canberra, being further inland, should escape the main effects of this with skies remaining mostly clear and temperatures only dropping off a little, remaining a few degrees above average.

Unfortunately for Melbourne another front will mean further cloud on Easter Sunday, with temperatures only recovering to around the seasonal average of 24 degrees. On the flip side, the best of the weekend is expected Easter Sunday for Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney, with all three likely to see those beautiful sunny skies return along with temperatures in the mid to high 20's.

With such warm temperatures expected during the day, don't leave it too long to go hunting for those chocolate eggs!
