Late-season heat and Total Fire Ban (TFB) for SA

Graeme Brittain, Friday April 19, 2019 - 11:47 AEST

A front and trough are directing an unseasonably warm arimass across the southeast of Australia, particular for South Australia.

Dry, warm and gusty northerly winds ahead of the frontal system are resulting in elevated fire danger ratings across the state.

This has resulted in the Country Fire Service issuing TFBs for the West Coast for Good Friday, and the Eyre Peninsula districts, Yorke Peninsula, Mid North and Mount Lofty Ranges for Saturday.

Temperatures in Adelaide are tipped to reach the low-30's today and on Saturday, which is 10-to-11 degrees above average for the time of year. If Adelaide exceeds 32.2 degrees it will be the warmest the city has been this late in the season in about 100 years.

Much colder air will make its way across the state by Sunday, which will lead to temperatures peaking around 10-to-15 degrees lower than on Saturday.
