Rain for the southeast!

Another burst of cold air will spread across the southeast over the next few days, knocking temperatures into the low teens or single digits for all major capitals Tuesday afternoon, and bringing further snow to the alps and Tablelands. Thankfully, another feature of the cold burst will be widespread showers for eastern NSW and Victoria.
The heaviest showers are likely from Monday evening until Tuesday afternoon when a deep trough sweeps northwards from eastern Bass Strait along the NSW coast. Coastal falls in excess of 30mm are a good chance between Newcastle and the South Coast. Widespread totals of 10-20mm should extend west to around Oberon to Goulburn to Khancoban to Mt Buller, encompassing at least the eastern half of Sydney catchments as well as Gippsland.
About the tablelands, snow down to 900m is likely Monday night and Tuesday morning in the south with another 10-20cm a good bet for the resorts.
The showers and snow will be accompanied by gusty southerly winds, reaching gale force along the coast, making it feel even colder.
By Wednesday, the showers and wind will have eased and the days will become milder as nights get colder with the clear skies.
