The first in a series of gusty cold fronts has commenced crossing southeastern Australia, bringing the strongest wind gusts in over 2 years to parts of the Yorke Peninsula.
Minlaton Aerodrome saw a westerly gust of 98 km/h just after 1 o'clock yesterday morning, which is its highest gust recorded since early 2017. Across Gulf St Vincent, Nurioopta saw a gust of 74 km/h, its highest since last November.
Rainfall totals of 10 mm have also fallen about the Yorke and Fleurieu peninsulas as the front crossed, providing a welcome top up to similar totals a few weeks ago.
Further cold fronts are expected on Sunday and Tuesday/Wednesday, bringing fresh surges of strong wind and showers and the likely coldest days of the season so far.
