Wet weekend for parts of WA

Showers and storms sparked to life over parts of WA on Saturday evening, as a cold front and trough moved through the region.

Mt Magnet picked up 20mm of rain in the 24 hours to 9am Sunday which is more than they normally receive throughout the whole month of April. It was also the highest one day total for April in 11 years. Learmonth recorded 41mm which was the heaviest April rain in five years, and the heaviest in the last 10 months.

The rain was very welcome for most, especially those in the South West district where just 4-7mm has fallen in the last six weeks. The district missed out on the heaviest falls, however there were still some handy totals with Witchcliffe receiving 7mm and 5mm falling at Busselton, Cape Naturaliste and Donnybrook.

The cold front and trough will continue to march eastwards during Sunday and Monday, spreading showers and storms with it.

The start of the working will be drier for much of the southwest, with just some isolated showers about the coastal parts between the Central West and South Coastal. On Monday, the heaviest showers and storms will be focused over the inland regions of the Pilbara, Gascoyne and the North/South Interior.
