Wintery morning for Southwest WA

Thomas Hough, Saturday August 24, 2019 - 12:51 AEST

Southwestern WA had a reminder this morning that we aren't quite out of winter just yet.

A cold airmass now sits over the region thanks to a frontal system moving across the south. High pressure building quickly behind this has combined clear skies and light winds with this airmass, the perfect combination for a cold morning.

Bridgetown dropped to 1.0 degree, with Bunbury (1.2), Busselton Airport (1.1) and Collie East (0.1) also all dipping close to freezing, whilst Manjimup (2.2) and Shannon (3.1) were just a touch warmer.

Although not quite as cold, cooler mornings are expected over southwest WA for the next couple of days, before warming from about Wednesday. The next frontal is then expected to impact WA, bringing with it thick cloud, gusty winds and frequent showers, flipping things around somewhat with warmer nights expected but cooler days.
