Weather Warnings - Flood Warning
Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology
Northern Territory
Final Flood Watch for Western, Eastern and Central Inland Rivers
Issued at 1:06 pm CST on Friday 27 January 2017
Flood watch number: 13
Drier air moving in from the south is expected to keep shower and storm
activity very isolated.
Widespread areas of inundation are expected to remain in some parts of the
Inland Rivers over the coming weeks. Road conditions are expected to make
travel to some parts of the Inland Rivers difficult and leave some communities
isolated for some time.
See www.bom.gov.au/australia/warnings/ to view all of the Bureau's current
warning products.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways
- Avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
- Stop children playing in or near floodwaters
- Create your own sandbags if there is flooding, by using pillowcases and
shopping bags filled with sand and place them around doorways to protect your
home
- Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be
treated as live
