Cancellation Severe Weather Warning

for North East, East Coast, North West Coast, Central North, Central Plateau and Midlands Forecast Districts.

Issued at 9:26 am Friday, 7 January 2022.

HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE ABOUT NORTHERN TASMANIA.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure to the west of Tasmania will move slowly across the state today, bringing showers and possible isolated thunderstorms.
cancellation severe weather warning for the following areas:
North East, East Coast, North West Coast, Central North, Central Plateau and Midlands
Severe weather is no longer occurring in Tasmania.
The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
Highest accumulated rainfall reported in 24 hours to 9am Friday 281.8mm at Gray, 227.2mm St Patricks Head, 187mm Mount Barrow, 101.2mm Friendly Beaches, 99mm Lake Mackenzie, 97.2mm Mount Victoria, 81.2mm Monameta, 74.2mm Sheffield, and 73.2mm Upper Esk.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Do not walk, ride or drive through flood waters.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.
