Final Flood Warning For The Avoca River

Flood Warning Number: 8

FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT CHARLTON TOWN
No significant rainfall has been observed across the Avoca catchment since 9:00 am Tuesday. No significant rainfall is forecast for Wednesday.

Avoca River to Charlton Town:
Flooding is no longer expected along the Avoca River to Charlton Town.
The Avoca River at Charlton Town is currently at 3.82 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (4.00 m).
The Avoca River at Charlton Township is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m).

Avoca River downstream of Charlton Town:
Flooding is not expected to extend downstream of Charlton Town to Quambatook.
The Avoca River at Quambatook is currently at 1.46 metres and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Avoca River at Quambatook is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m).

Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
Never allow children to play in floodwater,
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain,
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.}
