Final Flood Warning For The Gascoyne River

FLOODING IS EASING IN THE GASCOYNE RIVER CATCHMENT
Heavy rainfall associated with a trough has resulted in river rises and areas of flooding in the Gascoyne River catchment. The low pressure trough has now moved over the southern Kimberley and flooding is easing in the catchment.
No significant rainfall has been recorded in the catchment in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Tuesday.
No significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Tuesday and into Wednesday.
Heavy rainfall and areas of flooding has adversely affected road conditions in the Gascoyne River catchment. While flooding subsides roads may still be impacted for some time.

Lyons River:
The Lyons river is below the minor flood level and is not expected to rise again in coming days.
Gascoyne River to Jimba:
Gascoyne River to Jimba is expected to remain below minor level (4.00 m).
The Gascoyne River at Jimba is currently at 2.89 metres and falling.
The Gascoyne River at Jimba will remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Tuesday.

Gascoyne River downstream of Jimba:
No further flooding is expected in the Gascoyne River downstream of Jimba.
The Gascoyne River at Fishy Pool is currently at 3.30 metres and falling.
The Gascoyne River at Fishy Pool is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.50 m) during Tuesday.

Flood Safety Advice:
DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and velocity.}

17:22 AEST Just as we forecast yesterday, a coastal trough has deepened along the NSW and southeast Qld coasts as a low in the Coral Sea continues to inch closer to Qld.  The trough has brought some interesting weather to NSW in the past 36 hours or so, particularly along the coastal fringe, giving those New South Welshmen a “Stark” Game of Thrones reminder: winter is coming.
