A thundery and gusty Saturday for southwest WA

It was a thundery and gusty Saturday morning for southwest WA yesterday as a cold front crossed the area. Thunderstorms were observed around the southern Capes around 8:30am Western Australian time.

Thunderstorms were mainly in the southwest during the morning and more around the Perth Metropolitan area around lunch time. The front continued its way across WA but had run out of thundery puff by late evening.
The gustiest winds were recorded in the north westerly winds ahead of the front however it did remain windy behind the front for most of the day. Cape Leeuwin recorded 94km/h at 6:29am, Cape Naturaliste observed WSW 91km/h at 9:52am, Perth city W 54km/h at 12:44pm, and Rottnest Island 83km/h at 5:57pm.
Rainfall totals were 20 – 40 mm across the Perth Metropolitan area, and 10-30 mm around the South West and South Coastal regions, rainfall around the Great Southern and Central Wheetbelt was around 5-20 mm.

Jarrahdale - 40mmm
Huntly - 40mmm
New Norcia – 36mmm
Manjimup - 27mm

Conditions remain settled over the area today as a high strengthens over inland WA and the front continues eastward across SA.
