Just a day after parts of southeast Queensland had their heaviest rain in over 100 years, further heavy rain has tumbled down across the southern Queensland coast, with some locations exceeding 100mm.
In the 24 hours to 9am Saturday, Mount Joseph (200km northwest of Brisbane) recorded 451mm of rain, the highest daily total in over 100 years. In the same period a whopping 675mm fell at Marodian and 650mm at Mt Kanigan, the highest falls in at least 20 years for both locations. These, along with other daily totals of 400-700mm, were 3-5 times the monthly average.
This vast amount of rain caused waterways to swell, triggering the release of Flood Warnings for various rivers in the southeast, including a Major Flood Warning for the Mary River.
Daily totals weren't quite as impressive on Sunday morning though multiple locations exceeded 100mm, including 181mm at Broadmeadows (Rockingham) 102mm at Bundaberg South. This rain is adding more water over the already saturated ground.

Further rain is expected on Sunday though totals are expected to be lighter once again, and mostly below 20mm over southeast parts of the state. Although at least some rain is expected most days next week, falls are likely to be light, allowing rivers to gradually drain.
