Cyclone no-show

A tropical low near Western Australia's Kimberley District has failed to develop into a tropical cyclone.

The low was previously expected to become Australia's seventh tropical cyclone of the season earlier this week. However, despite causing areas of heavy rain and storms, the system did not reach cyclone strength.

The heaviest rain during the 24 hours to 9am today was 71mm at Bradshaw Homestead, which is their heaviest April rain since 2006.

The low helped produce close to 100mm of rain in Darwin during the last three days. This has brought their wet season total up to 2,462mm as of 9am today, making it their third wettest on record behind 1988 (2,499mm) and 2011 (2918mm).

All cyclone advisories have been finalised and severe weather warnings cancelled in the region.
