Another wet week for Tasmania

With frequent frontal systems running across the nations south over the coming week, it looks to be another wet week for Tasmania's west and north.
As a number of fronts and troughs make their way across the Great Australian Bight this week they look set to deliver some decent rain to Tasmania's west and north, adding to what has been an already wetter than average month for some.
Strahan Airport, on Tasmania's west coast, has already recorded 210mm this month, surpassing the months average by 30mm. In records that date back to 1981, 2002 was the year in which the highest July rainfall was recorded, at 326mm.
A frontal system moving across the state on Tuesday looks to deliver 30-40mm of rain, with 10-15mm ahead of the system on Monday. Even with these falls though, looking ahead to the remainder of the month it looks unlikely rainfall totals will climb as high as those recorded in 2002, with around a further 80mm forecast at this stage.
However, as it stands, with the rainfall forecast this week, it will be the wettest July for Strahan Airport since 2009, when just shy of 310mm was recorded.
