Cooler conditions for Perth before heat set to return

Perth is set for a run of cooler conditions over the next few days, following on from a two week period of mostly well above average temperatures. In the last fortnight Perth has remained mostly above 30 degrees, with only 5 days in the last 14 dropping below this. At its peak conditions topped at nearly 37 degrees on Saturday 11th, 10 degrees over the average for the time of year.

A cold front then delivered a brief 3 days of respite before the mercury climbed into the mid 30's again, just shy of the maximum temperature less than a week earlier. This time around the cooler conditions look to remain for a day or two longer, with temperatures beginning to drop yesterday, remaining cool until about Monday as a cold front moves over southwest WA.

Increased cloud and showers can be expected with this, as well as the risk of thunderstorms. With these cloudier and wetter conditions, temperatures will struggle to climb much higher than the low to mid 20's, below average and a stark contrast to much of the previous fortnight.

Heat will however begin to build again from around Tuesday 21st as a hot airmass is directed towards the southwest. At this stage temperatures are expected to reach the low 30's by about Wednesday and the mid 30's by Thursday/Friday.
