Flooding rain hits western Queensland as NSW waits

The best rain in more than 60 years has soaked parts of western Queensland during the last 24 hours, with more on the way during the coming days.
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Trevor and an associated low pressure trough brought a welcome deluge to parts of western Queensland this week.
Falls of 100-200mm have been recorded in parts of the state's North West and Central West Districts during the last two days.
In the 24 hours to 9am on Wednesday, Isisford's 146mm was its heaviest daily rain in 69 years and their heaviest on record during March. Data for this site is available back to the late 1800's.
Blackall received 133mm during the same period, which was their heaviest rain in 25 years and their heaviest for March since 1963. A rain gauge further south at Mount Calder picked up 214mm during the 48 hours to 9am on Wednesday.
Areas of heavy rain and storms will continue to affect parts of central and western Queensland on Wednesday and Thursday, also spreading into eastern and southeastern parts of the state.
Showers and storms will become more widespread across Queensland from Friday as a strong upper level trough passes over southeastern Australia.
Some areas in central Queensland could see 100-200mm of rain between now and the weekend, on top of what's already fallen during the last couple of days.

Further south, NSW has largely missed out on the heavy rain being produced by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Trevor so far. However, tropical moisture associated with the system will still help produce some welcome rain across the state later this week.
A broad band of rain and thunderstorms will sweep over NSW on Friday and Saturday, delivering widespread falls of 5-10mm in most districts and 20-40mm in some areas.
