Fog and rain loom for Adelaide

Ben Domensino, Monday July 8, 2019 - 17:11 AEST

Adelaide will have a grey start to Tuesday before wet and windy weather hits the city on Wednesday.

Low cloud and fog are likely to develop in and around Adelaide on Monday night underneath a weak ridge of high pressure. The impending fog and cloud have prompted a road weather alert for the city, with reduced visibility and possible drizzle expected to make driving dangerous in some suburbs on Tuesday morning.

Sunnier skies should return to Adelaide on Tuesday afternoon, although more grey skies are on the horizon.

A strong cold front will bring a burst of rain and strong winds to Adelaide on Wednesday afternoon. This system may cause damaging wind gusts in some areas of South Australia and produce about 5-15mm of rain in the state's southern agricultural areas.

Be sure to check the latest severe weather warnings in South Australia closer to the arrival of the cold front.
