More rain on the way for southern WA

Perth will receive another bout of welcome rain this weekend as a cold front crosses Western Australia's South West Land Division.

Despite a couple of decent falls late last month, Perth registered its driest May (67mm) in six years and its driest autumn (91mm) in nine years.

By contrast, the city has already recorded rain on four of the first seven days this month. With 40mm already in the gauge by 9am today, this has been Perth's wettest start to winter in 13 years.

The wet start to winter is set to continue this weekend, when a band of rain and storms passes over the state's southwestern districts with the passage of a cold front.

Perth and other areas of the state's lower west coast could collect another 10-20mm of rain from this system, while the wheatbelt should see another 5-10mm by the end of Sunday.

The front will also produce blustery winds and thunderstorms, so keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings if you have outdoor plans this weekend.
