NSW & QLD expecting a drenching

Widespread areas of NSW and QLD can look forward to some much needed heavy rainfall from Wednesday, with this rain potentially lingering for up to a week.
After months of little rain, eastern parts of Australia can finally expect a good drenching throughout the coming week, with the BoM forecasting northern and eastern parts of NSW and southern and central areas of QLD around a 60% chance of exceeding 25mm of rainfall for the week. This is thanks to a large low pressure trough which should shift further over the east, bringing convective, moisture laden air with it. As a result, thunderstorms, possibly severe at times, may also be a high chance across western parts of both NSW and QLD.
The heavy falls look to begin on Wednesday evening, starting in the western and central parts of the states. Places about Ivanhoe and Cobar of NSW and Quilpie of QLD can expect falls of between 5-10mm throughout Wednesday evening. From Thursday to Saturday however, the rainfall totals only look to increase with isolated heavy pockets of rain producing falls of up to 20mm each evening. At this time it is still unclear however, which areas will receive the most rainfall during the week.
As the trough may shift further south later in the week, central and eastern parts of VIC could also potentially receive a heavy downfall on Sunday evening, over many of the fire torn areas.
