Spring heat for Western Australia

A hot air mass lingering over much of Western Australia is creating sweltering conditions.
Perth (Metro) reached 38.4 degrees on Friday and 40.4 degrees yesterday (Saturday) marking the hottest pair of November days above 38 degrees days since at least 1993. Yesterday was also the hottest day in Perth since January 20th of this year. However, as heat contracts further east the temperature in Perth is only expected to reach 28 degrees today.
Kalgoorlie (Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport) also reached 38.4 degrees on Friday, 40.4 degrees yesterday and today is expected to hit 44 degrees, potentially making it the hottest November temperature since 1939, when records began at the town. The heat is unlikely to retreat until Tuesday evening, with tomorrow and Tuesday expected to reach 40 or above. A cold front will move through Tuesday evening and drop temperatures to a relatively chilly 28.
The hot air mass will remain over much of Western Australia, although cooler air with a weak cold front will restrict heating in the far southwest. A stronger front will move across the bulk of the southwest on Tuesday dropping temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday before heat builds in the region again.
