Winds roar across the South

Wind gusts up to 100km/h are expected for large parts of the South Australian coastline today as a strong cold front crosses the south.

Damaging Winds averaging 50-60km/h and gusting up to 90-100km/h are expected today along the SA coast from the Eyre Peninsula through to the Victorian border, including Adelaide.

Temperatures are also rapidly increasing across the region as dry northwesterly winds bring severe fire dangers throughout the region.

The strong southwesterly change is due for most parts in the late morning or early afternoon, bringing a large temperature drop, possibly up to 10 degrees within an hour.

The strong winds will continue through into the evening when cold showers and possible hail should fall.

Gale force winds also extend into waters off parts of Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania today.

The cold front responsible will generate temperatures up to 12 degrees lower tomorrow. Winds will start to ease on Monday night as high pressure ridges in.
