It's going to be a blustery night in parts of eastern NSW, Victoria and Tasmania with damaging gusts possible in some areas into tomorrow morning.
Tonight's turbulent weather is due to a cold front crossing the nation's southeast, which is causing northwesterly winds to strengthen ahead of gusty westerly change.
Wind gusts of around 70km/h have already been recorded in Victoria's Central and South West districts today, while strongest gusts of 80-90km/h have affected the Victorian alps, Snowy Mountain in NSW and northern Tasmania.
A severe weather warning has been issued in NSW for damaging winds affecting parts of the coast and ranges between the Illawarra and southern ranges. Gusts may exceed 90km/h in these areas from about midnight, with blizzards possible in the alps tomorrow morning.
Wind will gradually ease tomorrow as the front moves out into the Tasman Sea, with calmer conditions expected across the region by Thursday morning.
