Flood Warning for the De Grey River Catchment

Flood Warning Number: 4

Recent thunderstorm activity over the De Grey River catchment has caused stream
rises in the Nullagine River, Coongan River and Shaw River. River rises and
areas of flooding are expected to continue in the De Grey River catchment
during Saturday into Sunday.

No significant rainfall is forecast for the catchment during Saturday.

Nullagine River:
The Nullagine River at Nullagine peaked at around 3 metres (moderate flood
level) Friday morning. The river remains steady above the minor flood level.
The Nullagine River at Tumbinna Pool peaked around 4.3 metres midnight Friday.
The river remains above the minor flood (1.5 metres)

Coongan River:
The Coongan River at Marble Bar peaked at 4.3 metres late Friday evening. River
levels are continuing to fall. The river is currently above the minor flood
level (1.0 metres)

Shaw River:
The Shaw River at North Pole Mine is currently above the minor flood level and
rising .

De Grey River:
Minor flooding may occur along the De Grey River.

The De Grey River at Coolenar Pool is currently at 3.43 metres and rising. The
De Grey River at Coolenar Pool may reach the minor flood level (5.50 m) during
Monday.

Flood Safety Advice:
DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and
be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers
need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel
plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and
velocity.
