Cancellation Of Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Arnhem and Carpentaria districts.
Issued at 5:11 pm Thursday, 19 December 2024.
Damaging wind gusts have eased about the eastern Top End.
Weather Situation
An outflow boundary from previous thunderstorm activity is advancing westwards about eastern Arnhem land, though with less force now and the damaging wind risk is no longer likely.

The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
100 km/h wind gust was recorded at Centre Island at 12:14 pm.
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
* avoid driving into water of unknown depth and current
* stay away from fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live
* stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways
