Minor Flood Warning For The Haughton River Catchment

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GIRU
Heavy rainfall has been recorded across the Haughton River catchment from Thursday morning. This has resulted in elevated river levels along the Haughton River. River levels at Giru may remain around the minor flood level during Saturday into Sunday, as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
A Flood Watch is current for catchments between Cooktown and Mackay, including the Haughton River catchment. The situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be updated as required.

Haughton River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Haughton River.
The Haughton River at Giru is currently at 1.53 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (1.80 m).
The Haughton River at Giru may remain around the minor flood level (1.80 m) during Saturday into Sunday, as floodwaters arrive from upstream.
