Moderate Flood Warning For The Haughton River

RENEWED MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GIRU OVERNIGHT SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY
Moderate to heavy rainfall during the week led to river and creek level rises across the Haughton River catchment. Minor flooding has eased at Giru, however renewed minor to moderate flooding may occur overnight Saturday into Sunday with last few hours of rainfall and forecast rainfall.
Heavy rainfall remains possible in the catchment for the remainder of Saturday, with showers and possible thunderstorms forecast to continue for the next few days, which may keep river and creek levels elevated with renewed rises possible along the Haughton River and its tributaries.
The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Haughton River:
Renewed minor to moderate flooding may occur along the Haughton River.
The Haughton River at Giru is currently at 1.03 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (1.80 m).
The Haughton River at Giru may reach the moderate flood level (2.10 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday, with renewed river level rises and forecast rainfall.
