Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Upper Balonne And Maranoa Rivers

MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT WARKON THURSDAY EVENING AND POSSIBLE AT SURAT DURING FRIDAY
Daily rainfall totals of up to 100 mm were observed in the upper Balonne River catchment earlier this week. River level rises have been observed along Dogwood Creek and the upper Balonne River, where minor flooding is likely at Warkon from Thursday evening. Minor flooding is possible further downstream at Surat Friday evening.
Further showers are possible over the next few days, however significant impacts on river levels are not expected.

Dogwood Creek:
River levels are elevated along Dogwood Creek, where moderate flooding is occurring at Pine Hill Crossing.
Balonne River to Surat:
Minor flooding is likely along the Balonne River to Surat.
The Balonne River at Warkon is currently at 6.34 metres and rising, below the minor flood level (7.00 m).
The Balonne River at Warkon is likely to reach the minor flood level (7.00 m) Thursday evening. The river level may reach around 7.50 metres Friday afternoon, with minor flooding.

No recent observations are available for the Balonne River at Surat, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is expected to be below the minor flood level and rising.
The Balonne River at Surat may reach the minor flood level (5.00 m) Friday evening. Further rises are possible as upstream flow arrives.
